Brighton Illustration and Graphics 2008 graduates (www.gdi08.co.uk) have made it into Grafik's 2008 Review issue which is nice. Check it out, if you get a magnifying glass you might just be able to make out my 'consume less, produce more' poster.

The Early Bird

I have been drawing a lot of birds recently, here is a little idea I had the other day.

Walking and talking.

Yesterday was very interesting. It started off as one of those days that had the potential of disappearing to procrastination but instead lead to a lot of good ideas and interesting thoughts. I went for a walk about Romford and Dagenham and saw some interesting sights and also had a very insightful chat with a good friend and graphic designer James Lunn (Check out his work at www.memo-random.com). On the work front I haven't been able to do much as I have a delightful christmas temp job at HMV 'no one gets you closer to music, movies and games' (so why bother?). There are a few things in the works including the RSA brief that is proving to be quite difficult and a new illustration that I'll post soon. Until then enjoy the beautiful of what surrounds me.

The RWE workshop

Yesterday I took part in the next phase of the Real Work Experience a project run by Thinkpublic. 7 Workshops ran up and down the country and I headed the one base at the university of Brighton. It went amazingly well and I wanted to thank all the people that join up. As the RWE workshop was a competition, the idea of what the RWE will be that the group at Brighton came up with will be judges by Thinkpublic. If the idea is chosen by Thinkpublic it will be put into action.

Age Concern

I had a interesting and inspiring visit to the Barking and Dagenham offices of Age Concern today where I interviewed Shirley Rice the befriender co-ordinator. I went to research into the problem of loneliness and social isolation in older people for a RSA brief called 'Action for Age'. Shirley Rice has been the first person I have contacted for this project and has given me a lot of useful information. Thank you Shirley!

The Real Work Experience

I had the pleasure of visiting Thinkpublic yesterday where I was trained up for my duties as the head of Brighton's workshop that is taking place on the 21st. The workshop will focus on social design and will be tackling the problems that face a design student/graduate who is interested in getting into social orientated work. It's open to any graduate or student, so if you want to get involved and live in the Brighton area please get in contact via email (adotellison@googlemail.com).

Mail Out

I have just finished my biggest update on my website since its launch. The last few months have been busy with many self initiated projects on the go, one with the aim of getting some non-self initiated projects. The mail out project was based on the sercuity patterns found in envelopes, and I produced a A3 double sided poster and a set of postcards. For more images and more work go to my website www.adamellison.co.uk.

New life

Well I have finished my mail out project (photos will be up soon) which has given me sometime to finally move in properly. While going through old stuff I found some pieces of work that I thought deserved to see the light of day, if only for a bit. Most of these pieces where done around the age of 16 i think. enjoy.

I am glad to announce the launch of the pengineer website, which I have had the pleasure to work on the past few months. The site contains the brilliant work of the pengineer collective, Tom Cole, Tim Hattrick, David Brownings, Alex Hough and Simon Brooks. I will also hopefully be a 'guest' illustrator in there next zine. Check them out at www.penginer.co.uk.

Sine//Square//Saw

I'm working on the redesign of my dear friend Dan Bloomfield's adventure into the world of blogging ...[[sine-square-saw]]... A digital music wonderland that I will be contributing to if I get my writing skills down (gain some). As I wanted to push my type handling abilities I have created a few graphical approaches, here are the fruits of my labour.

Here are some things that have caught my eye over the past few days.

Into the Woods

My blogging skills have degraded the last few weeks as I have been working hard and celebrating even harder, both my university degree show and the Free-range exhibition. Free-range has been the first step into the real world for all of us in both Graphics and Illustration at Brighton. It has been hard work and a lot of stress, but alternately a joy to help organise, well done to everyones hard work!

You can check out work from the exhibition at www.gdi08.co.uk
